Your primary goal is to develop commercial varieties for specific market segments in an efficient way. From ideotype to introduction, you build varieties that truly make a difference for growers around the world.

Your responsibilities:
You optimize the efficiency and output of spinach breeding programs: you develop innovative and producible successful varieties for specific market segments in the most efficient way, leveraging tools and technologies available.
In collaboration with Marketing & Sales, you are gathering information on market requirements as well as future needs and translate that into breeding goals/ideotypes. You make sure all the advice and proposals are of the best quality.
You manage, support and direct the breeding team and breeding related activities in line with the breeding plan, guidelines and procedures and the corporate values and vision within KWS Vegetables.
To seed your future, you've got the following skills:
You have outstanding management skills; you are a team player and a pro in organization and planning.
You have an MSc in plant breeding or genetics, or a Bachelor level with a minimum of five years of experience in plant breeding.
You have an in-depth working knowledge of horticulture, agronomy, genetics, pathology, physiology and molecular genetics.
You are familiar with data management, information management systems, databases and spread sheets.
You are fluent in English and preferable also in Dutch.
You are an innovator and a problem solver, with strong communication skills.
You are a collaborator and you also have the ability to work independently.
You are willing to travel, when necessary, app. 15-20%.
